This Week’s Tip

It’s not my place to lecture anyone who has chosen not to get a vaccine. Yet we should recognize the longer people hold out, the longer we face restrictions, disruptions, and yes, in a lot of cases, death. Far be it from me to tell anyone to conform, but we should search our hearts and ask if our objections are based on genuine fear or sheer spite. If the latter, we might do well to consider whether the benefit of holding fast to our position is worth the cost of prolonging this current climate.

And, contrary to popular myth, positions on the vaccines do not run strictly along political ideology. I am right of center and still advocate my friends get the vaccine. We can’t actively disagree on political issues if you aren’t well enough to hold up your end of the discussion.

Just a thought.

Too many young people wind up in jobs they hate because they followed someone else’s advice about how to use their talents. You would think that after a certain age we would be capable of making major choices independent of the influence of family, friends, or career guides, but perhaps more often than we would care to admit, we allow someone else’s well-intentioned promptings to steer us in directions we would never have chosen for ourselves.
